Hi Chamber,
Please add the following events to the August calendar:
Sene Africa will be performing at the Salida SteamPlant Theater on Tuesday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. with the River Tribe Drum and Dance Troupe providing the opening act. Sene Africa consists of: Ibrahima Ba who was born in Dakar, Senegal. His love for music began at a young age inspired by the singing, drums and guitar rhythms of the all blind INAS orchestra. At the age of 19, he played percussion for the drum/dance/musical orchestra Ninka Nanka, traveling to shows at Goree Island, the Cassamance and final Saint-Louis, where he stayed and continued to play with a variation of the same group. Amadou Fall was also born in Dakar into a family of musicians. His earliest memories were laced with the sound of a unique 21 string African instrument, called a Kora, filling the walls of his home. Created between the borders of Senegal and Guinea, the high-pitched voice of its strings sing songs that seem to have fallen from the heavens. Throughout his childhood , this rare instrument called to Amadou, and he began learning to play it at 11 years old. In his teens he played on several international CD/s with Fatou Tiam, Fatou Lawbe and Djibi Sall. |
